Le temps n’est rien

Le temps n’est rien
et cela devrait me permettre
de prendre le moyen de transport

que je veux. Mais je ne vais pas
me presser en toute hâte, je ne vais pas
non plus regarder le temps

comme un provocateur,
ou toi qui te dépêchais
pour attraper ce train

en pensant que tu étais en retard.
La lune descendait
en trébuchant sur tes sacs,

et je voulais te dire
que tu n’étais pas en retard,
que le train allait venir

encore et encore,
comme un rêve où l’on tombe,
comme une étoile de mer

dont les bras repoussent.
Mais mes bras et le temps
ne sont rien et cela

devrait te permettre de les prendre
quand ce sera le bon temps pour toi,
délibérément, comme si tu embarquais

dans un train que tu veux vraiment prendre,
avec un nom solide, une destination
bien indiquée à l’avant.

Time is nothingness
and this should allow
me to take any transport

I want. And I will not
hurry in hot haste nor
will I look to time

as a challenger,
or to you who rushed
to that train

thinking you were late.
The moon was falling,
tripping over your bags,

and I was wanting
to say you were not late,
that the train would come

again and again
like a dream of falling,
like a starfish

regrowing its arms.
And my arms and time
are nothingness and that

should allow you to take
them in your own time,
deliberately, like boarding

a train you know you want,
with a solid name, a destination
stamped on the front.
